Katy Perry releases "Rise" her new single

Katy Perry released her first song since her successful 2013 album "Prism," a hymn to Rio de Janeiro.

In the single "Rise" the singer's voice goes back in inspirational phrases such as "victory is in your veins".

The theme comes ahead of the Olympics next month, and Perry told NBC he has decided to use it as a hymn for the Rio Games. He also released the respective music video, which includes Olympic athletes such as Gabrielle Douglas, Michael Phelps And Usain Bolt.

The singer explained in a statement that she released "Rise" now instead of waiting for her next album because there is "a need for the world to join."
